SMILES Hosts North Carolina Oral Health Collaborative

The SMILES Dental Project has started to become a model for not only Colorado but a model to inform other states as well.  In January we had the privilege of hosting the North Carolina Oral Health Collaborative.  We were able to share our experiences, successes, challenges, and see the SMILES Dental Project in action with site visits.

The site visits included:
Dental Aid - Sister Carmen Community Center
St. Anthony's North - Colorado Medical Dental Integration Site (COMDI)
Salud - Columbine Elementary

Friday started with a tour of the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine, followed by a panel discussion with a few of the SMILES key partners. The NC attendees were also able to gain a deeper understanding of the partners behind the model and how our partners help make this system of care possible.

Making care accessible is critically important, and a fundamental part of our responsibility and obligation to our communities and to share with each other.
